Professionals will share their experience

In January, a new revision of the corporate standard «Mentoring/Buddy system» came into force. Its goal is the share by experienced specialists of their professional knowledge and skills to young colleagues. As practice shows, mentoring benefits all participants engaged in the process. Thus, the mentor develops management skills, enhances his/her status in the company, confirms the reputation of a professional and wins the trust of colleagues.
A young or inexperienced employee receives timely assistance at the stage of integration into the team as well as support in professional and career development. The company also forms a team of highly qualified loyal employees.
- The employee should show a desire to be a mentor, be prepared to share his/her knowledge and experience , - explains the principle of forming a group of mentors HR specialist Oksana Akimova. - At the same time, high qualifications and extensive practical experience are mandatory, including the total work experience in the corresponding specialty for at least five years and at least one year directly at the Afipsky Refinery. There are a number of other requirements. In particular, the mentor must not have disciplinary penalties over the past two years and should demonstrate a high level of professional training, as well as stable work performance.
The standard defines a list of employees for whom mentoring may be provided. These are employees who do not have skills to perform job functions, newcomers with experience of no more than two years from the date of graduation from a secondary professional educational institution and no more than one year from the date of graduation from institution of higher education. Also, employees who are promoted to a new position may be assigned to the care of mentors if the fulfillment of new job functions requires the acquisition of additional professional knowledge and new practical skills.
At present, the mentoring group is being completed at the Afipsky Refinery. Among them there are such respected specialists as, for example, processing units repair supervisor of mechanical repair shop - Alexander Anischenko(the refinery’s work experience is 23 years), electrical department supervisor - Oleg Ivanyutin (the refinery’s work experience is 32.5 years), control laboratory senior chemist engineer –Elena Afokina (the refinery’s work experience is 15 years), processing units operator for distillation of petroleum products 22/4 - Vladimir Shishov (the refinery’s work experience is 28 years).
